Our annual IMPACT India Conference 2024 concluded in Goa last month, and it was a resounding success! With a strong focus on the transformative power of advanced technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the realm of Environment, Health, and Safety and Sustainability, the conference provided attendees with a glimpse into a future where enterprise AI-powered sustainability and safety solutions are poised to revolutionize the way organizations approach compliance and reporting.
The conference speakers highlighted the practical applications, real-world benefits, and the future trajectory of AI in several critical functional areas. From ergonomics to sustainability reporting to much broader areas like AI in EHS, the conference demonstrated how new technologies are already making a difference within the platform and the ways it can enhance various aspects of Sustainability and EHS management.
The AI Advantage: Empowering EHS Leaders
One of the standout moments was Naveen GV’s, Corporate Officer and Managing Director for AAPAC at Benchmark Gensuite, thought-provoking statement:
“AI Won’t Replace EHS Leaders – But EHS Leaders With AI Will Replace EHS Leaders Without AI.”
This bold assertion underscored the importance of embracing AI-powered solutions to enhance the capabilities of EHS professionals and drive the industry forward. Naveen’s presentation delved into the tech roadmap and market insights for the next era of EHS in the APAC region, emphasizing the rapid pace of technological evolution and the need for organizations to stay ahead of the curve.
Tech Innovations in EHS & Sustainability Promoting Inclusivity and Ease of Use
Sapna Somana, Director of Technical Product Leadership at Benchmark Gensuite, showcased the company’s collaborative tech innovations, including a groundbreaking ‘Voice-to-Text‘ feature in Concern Reporting solution. This innovative capability allows users to describe their observations in their preferred local language, which is then seamlessly translated into English. This innovation is a prime example of AI in EHS. It not only promotes inclusivity but also enhances the ease of use for diverse users, streamlining the data collection and reporting processes at the ground level.
The Live Try-It-Out Gen AI session, led by Chandan Tiwari, Director of Subscriber Development at Benchmark Gensuite, allowed attendees to experience the Image Analyzer AI within the Concern Reporting application module firsthand. Participants were able to generate descriptive responses using the Genny AI, which they could then easily copy and paste into the description field for enhanced representation.
Functional Domain-Centric AI Capabilities
The speakers also deep dived into Benchmark Gensuite’s functional domain-centric AI capabilities, leveraging cutting-edge Large Language Models (LLMs), Fit-for-purpose AI Models, and Partner AI Solutions. Natasha Porter, Chief Customer Officer at Benchmark Gensuite, set the stage for this session, referring to 2024 as the “Year of AI,” with organizations around the world rapidly adopting AI across different functions.
- Helper AIs and Model AIs:
The session was divided into two segments, showcasing “Helper” AIs and “Model” AIs. The session provided an overview of how these AI technologies can be leveraged to enhance various aspects of an organization’s operations.
– Helper AIs are designed to assist users with tasks and responsibility execution. They can generate summaries, extract insights, predict trends, and flag data irregularities. Helper AIs include features like interactive purpose-built bots, streamlined forms with auto-fill input fields, and intelligent task prioritization to support users in their day-to-day activities.
– Model AIs, on the other hand, are specialized for assessments and decision support. They provide real-time analysis and alerting, risk assessment and mitigation strategies, as well as image and video analysis capabilities. These AI models are aimed at delivering specialized assessments and decision-making support to users, leveraging advanced capabilities like Describe-It AI, PSI AI, Risk AI, and Ergo Evaluator AI.
- Describe-It AI Advisor: The Describe-It AI, an AI-powered tool that helps users provide thorough and detailed data, greatly reducing the time spent on investigation, follow-up, and analysis. By analyzing product images and information, the AI-powered advisor can generate comprehensive, high-quality descriptions that can be used for e-commerce listings, marketing materials, and other applications. In Benchmark Gensuite application suite, Describe-It AI is enabled as part of our Incident Management, Audit Management, MOC, Safety Risk Assessment, Control of Work programs, to name a few.
- Risk AI Advisor: One of Benchmark Gensuite’s AI in EHS tool is Risk AI Advisor which helps users spot emerging risks through real-time analysis of disparate data streams. Benchmark. The Risk AI solution can dissect large data sets with advanced AI and Machine Learning to identify precursors and forecast potential risk scenarios, immediately alerting stakeholders of pressing concerns. This capability highlights how AI-powered solutions can provide valuable insights and proactive risk management, enabling organizations to better anticipate and mitigate potential challenges.
Ansuman Ghosh, VP, Health & Safety, Aditya Birla Management Corporation, took the stage to share his views on AI technology and proof of concept on using some of Benchmark’s tools. He presented a study on the power of AI in analyzing large sets of p-SIF data and elaborated on how digitalization allowed ABG to ensure consistent data collection, analytics and safety interventions across 236+ sites.
Commenting on the importance of AI tools, Ansuman said,
“We don’t have thousands of EHS professionals across the globe. With the 29 businesses I have to manage, my team size is just 4, and we need to be smart, and that’s when AI analytics plays a very important role.”
Benchmark Gensuite Empowering the EHS & Sustainability Leaders
The practical applications and benefits of generative AI tools showcased through interactive demonstrations, highlighted its capabilities in simplifying tasks, transforming data analysis, and enhancing decision-making processes. Attendees experienced the power of enterprise AI, tools which can summarize large volumes of data, extract insights, and provide data entry assistance to improve the quality of recorded information.
The Benchmark Gensuite IMPACT India Conference 2024 provided a compelling glimpse into the future of EHS, where AI-powered solutions are poised to transform the industry. By embracing these advanced technologies, EHS leaders can enhance their capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and drive their organizations towards a safer, more sustainable future.
